Hedwig’s Review On The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, is a book widely loved by many. The reason why it is so adored by infatuated readers around the world is clearly obvious. Even though the beginning of the first two books in the series, start off quite leisurely, the rest of the books are packed with fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action and drama. The books are positioned in the future and are located in Northern America. The title of The Hunger Games is named such a raw, ferocious title since, in the books a group of 24 teenagers are sent into an arena by force, to fight to the death. The Hunger Games is a moving tale of a young girl fighting her way through her mad, heartbreaking, and cruel world. It is a tale of battle, love, family and fighting for rights and freedom. The words in which Suzanne Collins writes, lets you feel everything the character is feeling, live what the character is living, and experience what the character has experienced. Even though it is a fiction novel it can relate to many struggles carried out around the world today. The Hunger Games is such an amazing, creative and unusual story that has captured the love of many people such as myself. It is currently becoming a movie, so I advise fellow readers out there, to read the books before the release of the painstakingly anticipated film. The Hunger Games is certainly a fantastic novel and would leave the reader hungry for more and cursing Suzanne Collins as she has only written three books in the series. It is a book unlike any other and is particularly epic.

When Food Meets Harry Potter

George Weasley, here! I have discovered something rather odd in the Muggle bookstore earlier today.

It’s called The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook by Dinah Bucholz.

This is rather brilliant. For anyone who loves to cook, eat, or just adores our Magical World, this book would be wonderful to read! According to the Muggle papers….they sell it at…er..Barnes & Nobles and…Borders! I think it deserves an evaltuion by a real wizard.

Mischief managed, family.

The Hunger Games

Next to Harry Potter, The Hunger Games is my favorite book series. I’m pretty sure the majority of you wizards would have read the series, but if you haven’t then DO.

All of them are situated in dystopian futures where a group of minors are pretty much sentenced to death, a death which will be broadcast to the world as ‘entertainment’, and used a means to relay a warning that the government are more powerful than the citizens and can do as they please.

In The Hunger Games’ case, the future America (now called Panem) is made up of 12 Districts, each District serving a purpose, whether mining, fishing, farming, etc. The produce from every District is used mostly to benefit the affluent citizens living within the Capitol, leaving the District natives suffering with poverty and starvation.
Every year the Government living in the Capitol hosts The Hunger Games, where a boy and a girl (aged 12 - 18) from each of the 12 Districts is selected at random to enter a televised event where all 24 ‘tributes’ will have to kill or be killed in an arena containing various weapons and utilities.
The last remaining survivor will return to their District a hero with a new life of fame and fortune and the Governments reward of one years supply of food for their District.

Honestly. This month I will be getting a tattoo of the ‘Mockingjay’ which is featured in this book. I hope you all enjoy :)
